He made the term ‘Gandhigiri’; next he is going to make news with ‘Policegiri’...

We are talking about the forthcoming movie of B-town’s Munnabhai star Sanjay Dutt. For some time buzz had been in tinsel town about the remake of Tamil hit film ‘Saamy’, to be directed by K S Ravikumar and produced by TP Aggarwal in Hindi.

While speculations were rife that the remake will be titled ‘Thaanedar Returns’, of late the project has finalised the name ‘Policegiri’ instead.

According to sources, the makers and Dutt felt that audience might connect the film to the sequel of the nineties ‘Thaanedar’. So they decided to give entirely a new title and upon Dutt’s suggestion they finalised ‘Policegiri’.

"Dutt felt that this title could really connect with the audience as 'giri' represents the common Hindi speaking individual's lingo," stated Aggarwal in an interview.

‘Policegiri’ features Prachi Desai opposite Sanjay who plays a rough-tough cop, with a blend of both good and bad qualities. Released in 2003, the Tamil film ‘Saamy’ starred Vikram (‘Raavan’ and ‘David’ fame) and ‘Khatta Meeta’ fame Trisha.
