Director-producer-actor Sasikumar, received the National Award for his ‘Pasanga’ and he can’t stop being ecstatic. He shares his experience with IndiaGlitz exclusively.

At New Delhi, Sasi and his fellow recipients were picked up and dropped at the venue on the eve of the Awards. They were shown the drill and hence they were rehearsing the act of receiving the award from the dais. Sasi recollects that the next day he was on time and as early as 4 PM on the bus that takes them to the venue where the programme was scheduled to start at 5.30 PM.

Sasikumar was astonished to see a sight and that made him realise how important a National Award is. As part of the drill, the winners are split into three and made to stand one after the other, till they get their chance. On one such batch that was standing, Sasikumar saw senior actor and Indian’s icon Amitabh Bachchan standing in the queue just like the other winners. It was then Sasikumar realised that even such a great actor had to wait to receive the National Award.

Sasikumar took pride in representing Tamil Nadu to receive the National Award. Hence, in a fitting tribute to the state, Sasi was clad in white shirt and dhoti and received the award from the President Prathiba Patil, in the presence of Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni and Union Minister Jagad Rakshakan. Sasikumar felt really happy to get the award for his movie.

Many congratulations to you Sasi and to your ‘Pasanga’ team, once again. You've made us proud on and off the stage!
