Thursday, January 1, 1970 • Tamil Comments

`Satrumun Kidaitha Thagaval', directed by Thakkali C. Srinivasan, is said to be a chilling psychological thriller, laced with generous doses of humor. It tries to provide you with a comic thriller after a long time in Tamil cinema. The team guarantees you an `edge of your seat' kind of thriller all the way.

The noted stunt master Kanal Kannan makes his debut as a hero, while `Ammuvagiya Naan' fame Bharathi plays the female lead role. Other members of the cast comprises of Sriman, Kausalya, Sethu, Karunaas, and Crane Manohar. The movie has the music of debutant Bala.

The storyline goes like this: Kanal Kannan plays an escapee from a lunatic asylum who barges into a lonely-house that Bharathi is alone in. His weird antics lead her to believe that he intends to kill her. Frightened and helpless, she finds herself trapped in the maniac's clutches.

Sethu, another strange character in police garb, comes out from nowhere, marches into the house and claims to be Bharathi's savior. Suspicious of Sethu's credentials and motives, Kannan desperately tries to convince Bharathi to turn the impostor out of the house. Sethu on the other hand is intent on containing Kannan and dragging him to jail.

Bharathi does not know whom to believe... Caught between the devil and the deep sea, she can see no way out.

Who is Bharathi? Why is she alone in a palatial house? Will her folks return in time to save her from the mortal peril posed by a lunatic and a stranger claiming to be a cop?

Why is Kannan harassing Bharathi, whom he has never seen before? Why has he picked this particular house to barge into?

Who is Sethu? Is he a cop? Can he save Bharathi from Kannan? Why has he come into this house?

Kanal Kannan is all set to become South India's Jackie Chan. Following in the footsteps of his illustrious Asian predecessor, who rose from stuntman to become one of cinema's most loved heroes, Kannan essays a quirky, eccentric role with assurance and aplomb.

A highly respected and leading stunt director, he has worked with almost all the stars of South Indian cinema, including Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth, Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Vijay, Vikram, Ajith & Suriya, amongst others.

Sethu is a well known comic with excellent mimicry skills. He is the star of the highly popular `Kalakapovadu Yaar?' on Star Vijay.

Sriman, known for his dancing and fighting skills, delivers a powerhouse performance in a near little cameo.

Kausalya makes a strong comeback to the Tamil screen with a pivotal role in the film.

Karunaas plays a detective in search of the escaped lunatic. Egged on by his bumbling assistant, Crane Manohar, the duo hatches a series of madcap schemes to find the missing asylum inmate.

'Satrumun Kidaitha Thagaval', produced by Air Media, is slated for February release.
