Shatruvu (Naveen)

Thursday, January 1, 1970 • Telugu Comments

For a man who is on last-gasp come back, Vadde Naveen has decidedly chosen an aggressive title.  Shatruvu, meaning enemy, must not live up to its name. At least that is what Naveen must be hoping. The son of veteran producer Vadde Ramesh has had a checkered career and desperately needs a hit.

Talking of hits, Shatruvu, based loosely on some real life incident, has plenty of it of the literal variety. Bloody fights and some flashy flesh show (by the leading ladies) are some of the draw cards of the film.

"It is a very contemporary film, taking up a theme relevant to the common man," says the actor. For the film (which was originally named Shivam), Naveen has literally burnt the midnight oil to get his basics right.

Being an angry young man's role (Naveen fights corruption in the society), he has taken special efforts to get the nuances perfect.

As far glamour goes, there can be no shortage in the film as two buxom heroines Meghna Naidu and Navneet Kaur are at hand to provide that.

If the promos are anything to go by, there will be plenty of skin show and some foot-tapping music to go with it in the film. The film has been canned at various locations including abroad. The producer has spent lavishly on the film as the career of many hangs on the film.

Naveen says that they have all worked very hard to give some wholesome entertainment.

The new music director Madhukar has come up with some stirring stuff.

For the director Arun Prasad, this is a test by a fire. Firstly, he has to get his own fledgling career up and running. Secondly, he has to get on feet the floundering career of Naveen.

It is an onerous task. But Arun Prasad says he has done his best.

Let us see whether it is enough or not.
