Shooting for the film, a remake of Kamal's Tamil hit "Sati Leelavati", started May 18 in Bangalore.

Kamal plays the same role he had essayed in the Tamil original.

The Tamil star is working in a Kannada film after nearly 18 years.

"There will be changes in the narration because there have been several changes even in our life styles," says Ramesh.

Ramesh's first directorial venture has attracted huge media attention. The film, produced by K. Manju, will have both Ramesh and Kamal playing lead roles.

Kamal has allotted 15 days for the film and all his portions will be shot first.

After work on the film is over, Kamal will turn to his new Tamil project "Vettaiyadu Vilaiyadu", to be directed by Gautam Menon.

Both Kamal and Ramesh remember the late Anantu who had written the story of "Sati Leelavati". "Anantu is like a father figure to both of us," says Ramesh.

Oorvasi, Shruthi and Daisy Bopanna play the heroines in the Kannada venture. P.K.H. Doss is the cameraman and Guru Kiran the music director.
