Short films make it big

This seems to be the season of short films. As many as 10 such movies made their presence felt at the recently concluded 10th International Tamil Film Festival, organized by The Independent Art Film Society, in Canada.

The short movies were made by Tamils living all over the world. The best short film award was bagged by 'Nagal' (from France), while the second prize went to 'Metro' (Canada).

Critic award for best short film went to 'Poralikku Itta Peyar', while Pon Daya bagged the best director award for 'Nagal'. Kadhiravan emerged the best editor for 'T.2006'.

The award for best screenplay was bagged by Prem Kathir for 'Karukkai', while Janesan became the best cinematographer for 'Oodal'. While Stefano Guist was the best music composer for 'Music For Eyes', Sadhapranavan and Pon Daya emerged the best actress and best actor for 'Poralikku Itta Peyar' and 'Nagal', respectively.

Earlier, Tamil feature film 'Paalai' was screened and its director Senthamizhan interacted with the audience through video conferencing. Tamil writer S Ramakrishnan was present.
