'Sanghamitra' directed by Sundar.C is a much anticipated movie of the director which is touted to be a epic Tamil historic period drama. The director's 150 crore magnum opus is set in 8th century A.D revolving around the story of Sanghamitra who fights through obstacles to save her kingdom.

Earlier it was announced that Shruti Hassan would essay the role of the protagonist Sanghamitra. But now it has been confirmed that Bollywood actress Disha Patani will replace Shruti to play the role.

Disha Patani captivated the hearts of audiences by her performance in cricketing legend M.S Dhoni's biopic titled 'MS Dhoni :The Untold Story'. The actress played the love interest of Dhoni's character portrayed by Sushant Singh Rajput. Now the actress has more reason to rejoice as 'Sanghamitra' could catapult the actress's career sky high.
