While there is an alleged tussle between director Karthik Subbaraj and the producer Kathiresan regarding the violent content in the film, Jigarthanda` has been censored today. The film`s lead actor Siddharth has tweeted that the film has been censored and only the producer has to decide about the release.

“Jigarthanda is ready and censored. It is upto our producer Mr.Kathiresan to release the film when he deems best. thanks for all the support.”

A few moments earlier, the Udhayam NH` actor had said “Just heard that we'll have a release date locked for Jigarthanda by this weekend. @karthiksubbaraj &
I are waiting just like all of you:)”

The issue regarding the release is that the film is high in violent content and the censors would not give a clean U` certificate for the film. The producer wanted a U` certificate to avoid problems while selling the Satellite rights of the film. However the director did not budge for the producer`s insistence to cut short the violent sequences to afford a clean chit.

It is to be noted that Jigarthanda` the second film of Karthik Subbaraj after the super hit horror flick Pizza` is a gangster film based in Madurai and its suburbs.
