There’s a filmi adage which says ‘Khoon apna rang dikhayga’ (read the blood will show its true color) and exactly the same has started happening with the b-town promised intensity with long locks named Sikander Kher who is finally getting the recognition he deserves.

The son of B-town talent brilliant Kirron Kher has been nominated for the Screen Awards 2010 under the Best Supporting Actor category for his performance in the movie ‘Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey’.

Sikander played the role of Nirmal Sen, a young revolutionary who helps the lead protagonist played by Abhishek Bachchan. “This has come as a brilliant surprise to me. I am really happy to be nominated with great actors like Nana Patekar, Arshad Warsi and Radhuvir Yadav. I feel very proud right now and am glad that Ashutosh Gowariker showed faith in me to play the character of Nirmal Sen,” says Sikander.

Sikander has his fingers crossed, but right now for him nomination itself is a sign that his work is finally acknowledged by the industry. “It is good feeling to see that my work is noticed. I was surprised and thrilled as I didn’t expect to be nominated at all. I was driving at Haji Ali in Mumbai when I got the message, and almost knocked down a horse when I got the call. To be nominated against such stalwarts of cinema in itself is a moment of pride for me. I am just going to enjoy the nomination and not think about winning, at least at this point,” he says. This was the first time that the young actor was seen playing a supporting role in a movie. He feels that it is more important to concentrate on the character rather than being busy with the status of an actor.

Sikander believes in hard work and determination and that is why he chose to be a self-made-actor rather than take advantage of his lineage.

Sikander will soon be seen in Abbas-Mustan’s action thriller ‘Players’. The movie also stars his best friend Abhishek Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Bipasha Basu, Bobby Deol and Omi Vaidya. Let’s hope that 2011 turns out to be the turning point for this young actor!
