It was a day when the top two teams of the cricketing world fought fiercely Down Under. On the same day, the famous MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk, Chennai witnessed the Kollywood stars illuminating the evening with their sheer presence, and of course, with their performance with bat and ball.

It was a Star Cricket Show, jointly conducted by Hash 10 (cell phone Company) and Raj TV on the eve of Republic Day.

Though Cricket players Sadagopan Ramesh and Ashish Kapoor were the captains of the teams, it was the likes of Jayam Ravi, Silambarasan, Nanda, Prithvi, Shanthanu, Bharathi, Akil, and Sona, who grabbed the attention in the show that was conducted to stress the importance of the protection of the environment.

It was a 20 Twenty match played in front of around 20000 fans.

Silambarasan’s team comfortably won the match by 46 runs.

Jayam Ravi and Shanthanu were selected as the bowler of the match and the batsmen of the match respectively, while Hamsavardhan was declared the best all rounder.

Badava Gopi, Chennai 600028 fame, entertained the audiences with his lively and hilarious running commentary.

Silambarasan, who got out for a naught, came up with a ‘Punch’ dialogue as the response to a query about his duck: “It is not important who takes runs. It is important who wins.”

The colourful contest was inaugurated by Local Administration minister M.K. Stalin. Electricity Department minister Arcot Veerasamy presided over the even. The cup was handed over by M. Subramaniam, Mayor of Chennai.
