If we took the list of top grossing films that released in the late 90s and the beginning of 2000s there would be one name almost omnipresent in the Tamil credits - Simran. Being introduced to the Tamil film industry by director Vasanth in 'Nerukku Ner' which also introduced Suriya into the Tamil film industry, it was the beginning of one very successful journey for Simran.

The actress, who re-appeared in Gautham Menon's 'Varanam Aayiram' after a hiatus that she took post her marriage, won the Filmfare Award for the Best Supporting Actress. She has acted with almost all top heroes from the south like Chiranjeevi, Venkatesh, Mammootty, Kamal Haasan, Ajith Kumar, and Suriya is now concentrating on turning a filmmaker! She will be venturing in films now, but as a producer!

Simran who has been constantly in touch with films is now busy in launching her production house named Arigem. The actress wants to introduce young and talented filmmakers into the industry. She is planning to produce films in Hindi, Tamil as well as Telugu.

Simran has won the Tamil Nadu state award for the Best Actress twice and was nominated for the National Award for her role as a doting mother in Mani Ratnam 'Kannathil Muthamittal.' She is one of the most loved actresses of the Tamil film industry.

A successful wife and mommy, actress, business woman, and now a producer... the facets that the actress has never seem to end!
