Singam 2

Thursday, January 1, 1970 • Tamil Comments

Commercial movies have always been his pillars of strength, and 2010 blockbuster SINGAM was no different. Director Hari is back with a sequel that has raised the eyebrows of critics and Suriya fans, as Tamil Cinema is not very comfortable with sequels. However all the pot boiling commercial elements has driven the director to reprise the Roar of Duraisingam.

The first part had a dutiful cop from a remote village, unyielding to injustices around him that also led him to the city where he kicked dust off the baddies. Suriya played Duraisingam a charismatic character and his commanding cop voice is not something to shrug off. Anushka the heroine of the movie too had her role pretty neat and the onscreen chemistry clicked well, especially for the songs.

Now Singam was a complete entertainer of all sorts, with providing romance, thrills, comedy, sentiments and fights. Vivek's comedy was instrumental as "Erimalai" and brought the house down with laughter. To aid him this time will be Santhanam who is already ruling the roost of comedy, and together what they can do is something to ponder. Anushka as Kavya was Duraisingam's girl and how the director will introduce Hansika is a mystery, as it's not clear on how the romance will crux out
 .
The Director has revealed that the movie will take off from where it was left out, with the diehard Duraisingam returning to his hometown after blasting the baddies. Working as an undercover agent he goes about sniffing the illicit possession of arms and smuggling along the ports. From then on the movie takes off to an International arena of goondas and crooks.

This time the franchise will be shot in some leafy locations of South Africa where the cop goes on a hunt for baddies. The Director has even roped in Danny, a British actor for playing the antagonist.

The cast is pretty huge with some new additions; Suriya, Hansika, Anushka, Vivek, Santhanam, Radharavi, Nasser, Rahman, Manorama and so on. Music is by Devi Sri Prasad and the audio release took place June 2 and the response from critics and fans have been mixed as it's an album comprising of both levels.

The movie is produced by Lakshman kumar and being distributed by Gemini film circuit. The Cinematography is by Priyan and editing by Vijayan. With all these factors expectation has become twofold. The teaser trailer which was released a few days back thronged the social networking sites with some repetitive views and garnered millions of hits, showing the actor's credibility and the places it can scale.

The movie is slated for a June 14 release, so get set to hear the ROAR again.
