SIT to probe Gauri death, CM pay homage

It was protest from different corners of the country for assassination of noted journalist, thinker and firebrand Gauri Lankesh on Wednesday. In the evening she was buried without any religious activities. She did not believe in ‘Dharmic’ procedures. Indrajith Lankesh younger brother took the lead of final rites formalities at TR Mills.

Before the cremation Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah condemned the killing of Gauri Lankesh and ordered Special Investigation Team to probe in to the killing of Gauri Lankesh. Karnataka Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy, Kannada and culture minister Umasri, noted south Indian star Prakash Rai, Jignesh Mevani from Gujarat, mother of Gauri Lankesh Smt Indira Lankesh, sister Kavitha Lankesh and her daughter Isha,  journalist fraternity in Bengaluru paid last respected to departed soul. For public to pay last respect to editor of ‘Gauri Lankesh’ tabloid it was venue behind Ravindra Kalakshetra – Samsa open air theatre.

The Bengaluru West DCP Anuchet will be heading the SIT with 19 police officials to nab the culprits. SIT will work in war footing on this issue.

Meanwhile the low level of statements in Face Book on the killing of Gauri Lankesh made the police to nab two persons in Chickmagaluru.

The Union Home Ministry of Rajanath Singh has also sought the report on this killing of Gauri Lankesh.

At the burial ground as thousands of admirers thronged the revolutionary songs were recited at the time of pouring mud on the body of Gauri Lankesh. State award winning singer Pichchalli Srinivas ‘Kattuththeve navu Kattuththeve…song was prominently heard.

At the time of her father P Lankesh cremation Gauri Lankesh protested the Lingayat community rituals in 2000.

The cops in the team of SIT are – Jinendra Kanagavi, Harish Pandya, KP Ravikumar, SB Sakri, Jagannath Rai, KS Nagaraj, Rangappa, Anil RP, J Ashwath Gowda, MD Kulkarni, Iyanna Reddy, R Puneeth, DM Prashanth Babu, T Srinivas, KP Sathyanarayana, Manjunath, MR Harish, Kumaraswamy and Ravi from different police stations discharging various responsibilities are in the task.
