The first single track from the much anticipated Sivakarthikeyan starrer 'Velaikkaran' has just released and the song composed by Anirudh is a fast beat kuthu number with peppy music. Surprisingly the song's lyrics written by Viveka comes as a tribute to the down trodden labour population of Chennai who have enormously contributed for the development of the Metropolitan city but still live in the slums.

'Velaikkaran' has been directed by Mohan Raja after the critically acclaimed blockbuster 'Thani Oruvan'. In this film as the promotions and the reports suggested is about slum dwellers and the hero also hails from a slum.

”கருத்தவன்லாம் கலீஜாம் கெளப்பிவுட்டாங்க, அந்த கருத்த மாத்து -கொய்யால, - With this as the first line Viveka starts the song with a bang. With simple but powerful words, the lyric line calls for breaking the stereotype fixed on the low class slum dwellers.

"இந்த நகரம் இப்போதான் மாநகர் ஆச்சி இது மாற முழு காரணமே நாம அண்ணாச்சி, ஏ தகரகொட்டால தங்கி(யி)ருந்தாலும் சென்னையோட அன்னை நம்ம குப்பம்தானே"- These lines effectively bring out the contribution of slum-dwellers in the making of Chennai into a Metropolitan city.

With its lyrics the song may well become a worthy tribute to the original native people of Chennai who are living here much before the city which was primarily a trade centre was developed as a living place.
