Snehaveedu

Thursday, January 1, 1970 • Malayalam Comments

Superstar Mohanlal had been immensely successful with the director Sathyan Anthikkad, whenever the twosome joined together for a filmy project. In the early days of the career of the Mohanlal, it was the movies with Sathyan like 'Naadodikkatu', 'Sanmanassullavarkku Samadhanam' and 'Gandhi Nagar Second street' which brought out the ability of the star to shine in subtle roles with loads of satirical humour. And when he came back to his favorite director in the 2000's after a short break, their movies together like 'Rasathanthram' and''Innathe chinthavishayam' easily became the admired films of the years. 2011 will also have another new flick -'Snehaveedu'  which will once again have the hit duo together.

Again telling stories around common men, the movie revolves around the character played by lal named Ajayan. A man who lost his father at the age of two, his mother Ammukutty Amma was his world. When he was eighteen, Ajayan moved on to Chennai, looking for better opportunities and from there he travelled around the world. After having tried his luck in different cities around, he is now back to his village to look after his ageing mother. He has bought a big mansion, some acres of farmland and is trying to set in a new life with all the nostalgia of his growing up years. He starts a company for producing agricultural equipments and also earns his living as a farmer.

As Ajayan starts to enjoy his life arrives the twists in tale in the form of a 16 year old young boy from Chenani, who claims to be the son of Ajayan. With the loads of proof that the boy brings with him, Ajayan is forced to give him a shelter in his own household. Though Ajayan, who is still unmarried at his forties, denies of such an illegal son, none including his mother believes in Ajayan. The movie follows the twists and turns that occur in Ajayan's life and his attempts to bring out the truth.

Though something in the preview plot does sound like that of 'Minnaram', the director and scriptwriter in Sathyan is sure to have included things to avoid a possible comparison. The movie will have Padmapriya as the heroine in the role of Sunandha, a village girl while senior star Sheela appear as Ammukutty amma. All the Sathyan regulars are there in the cast in the form of coconut merchant 'Karikkanan Mathai played by Innocent, Chembil Ashokan as Toddy tapper Manian, Mamukoya, K P A C Lalitha and Sasi kalinga. Biju Menon will be for the first time in a Sathyan film playing the role of Ajayan's friend, Sub Inspector Balachandran. Also in the cast are Lena, Urmila Unni, Arundathi, and Rahul Pillai.

As usual with the recent movies of Sathyan, Isaijnani Ilayaraja has given the tunes to the songs written by Rafeeq Ahamed. While Venu handles the cinematography, Joseph Nellikal does the art direction. Rajagopal is in charge of editing department of 'SnehaVeedu' produced by Antony Perumbavoor in the banner of Aashirwad films.

'Sneha veedu' which is currently in its post production, is all set to be on the theatres by the end of this month.
