The censors have finally cleared a new song shot by Suryah for `New’.

The censors have given the song fourteen cuts. The song Kumbakonam Santhayile Kundumaali vangaliye written by Vaali and sung by Nithyasri and Manika Vinayakam was shot at a cost of Rs 25 lakhs. It featured S J Suryah and Kiran. The Chennai censor objected and ordered 17 cuts for the song. The song went to the revising committee who exempted some shots. The dispute over the song landed the director with a police case since he abused the censor officials and threw the cell phone at them. Now the censors have cleared it with 14 cuts. The deleted portions have to be handed over to the censors.
