Sophie turns down inconsequential roles

Roles with no substance are a completely no-no for Sophie Choudry. The actress, off late, has turned down offers by the dozen. Reason? The characters that she had been offered to play lacked meat. Sophie clearly wants to put across her point that when characters do not have any head or tail, filmmakers should not even bother to approach her for it.

Sophie's decision to focus on serious roles came about after the kind of roles that she is playing in her forthcoming films Daddy Cool, Freeze and Alibaug. Daddy Cool is an out and out comedy and this gives Sophie an opportunity to explore her humorous side. Freeze is a hardcore thriller and Sophie's plays a character that's enigmatic. Her character in Alibaug puts her emotions to test. With roles and characters as diverse as chalk and cheese, can plain Jane roles appeal to any actor?

There's a difference between being just there and making your presence felt. And Sophie decided to opt for the latter!
