The Tamil Nadu Assembly session has resumed a few minutes back. Assembly speaker P.Dhanapal expelled all 88 DMK members from the Assembly for allegedly resorting to violence.

Earlier in the day the DMK members allegedly manhandled the Speaker and one MLA even sat on the Speaker's chair.

The Speaker made an emotional plea regretting the treatment meted out to him inthe assembly hall.

Political observers say that expelling the opposition members during the vote of confidence session of the government would amount to rights violation issue of an Assembly member. Hence it was expected that the DMK or other opposition party members would not be evicted from the hall.

But now the Speaker has taken a drastic step. He also said that he has been conducting the Assembly as per rules only.

However political observers have already started claiming in social media that conducting the Trust vote without the main opposition party is a "farce".

Meanwhile 200 police personnel of Rapid Action Force have been deployed to guard the Assembly complex. All the approaching roads including the Marina beach road have been blocked.
