Directed by Neeraj Pandey

Starring: Akshay Kumar, Kajal Agarwal, Anupam Kher, Manoj Bajpayee, Jimmy Shergill & Divya Dutta

Music: M.M. Keeravani and Himesh Reshammiya

Lyrics: Irshad Kamil & Shabbir Ahmed

After the success of his last venture A Wednesday, director Neeraj Pandey is ready with his upcoming film Special Chabbis, a story based on real life heist that took place in 1987 to 2001.where a gang of 26 people posed as CBI officers and looted a lot of people.

Akshay Kumar poses as the CBI officer but he also has a love interest played by Kajal Agarwal. Unlike Wednesday this time Neeraj has five playback numbers in the film and surprisingly they are romantic numbers. A rare combo of M.M. Keeravani and Himesh Reshammiya in the credit list is enough to generate maximum interest. Well the movie will explain the reason for the role of music in crime thrillers. Let's see how this unique combo of M.M. Keeravani and Himesh Reshammiya has got for us.

There are five original tracks. Four songs have been penned by Irshad Kamil and composed by M.M. Kreem, while Himesh Reshammiya has chipped in with a composition with lyrics by Shabbir Ahmed.

Tujh Sang Lagee

Singers: K.K. & M.M. Kareem

Lyrics: Irshad Kamil

The album opens Tujh Sang Lagee a soulful rendition by K.K. followed by M.M. Kreem himself. A lot of Indian instruments have been used in the song. The song starts with soft guitar strums followed by the sarangi and harmonium. The dholak and talba have been blended well giving it a very Sufi touch. On the entirety the song has a very Qawaali feel. Great composition and meaningful lyrics by Irshad Kamil Simply do not miss this one.

Gore Mukhde Pe Zulfaan Di Chaavan

Singers: Himesh Reshammiya & Shreya Ghoshal

Lyrics: Shabbir Ahmed

Next in the album is Gore Mukhde Pe Zulfaan Di Chaavan rendered by Himesh Reshammiya and Shreya Ghoshal. This one is a typical Punjabi folk number. It reminds you of all the chartbusters that Himesh

has given in the recent past like Son of Sardaar and Khiladi 786 so this one has no novelty. Shreya Ghoshal is brilliant and male vocals by Aman Triikha, Shabab Sabri add to the song. Lyrics by Shabbir Ahmed are average.

Kaun Mera

Singer: Chaitra, Papon& Sunidhi Chauhan

Lyrics:Irshad Kamil

Kaun Mera is a love ballad, a soft rock and an unplugged version a very romantic track in three versions sung by Chaitra Ambadipudi, Sunidhi Chauhan and Angaraag Mahanta (Papon) in the album. The first version a love ballad sung by Chaitra has a lot of soft tones where only the guitar and the piano are used, the soft rock male version by Papon has a few beats and drums have been used intermittently in the song. Sunidhi Chauhan unplugged version is once again a soft number which takes you into another world. On the entirety a lot of western instruments influence the song. Lyrics by Irshad Kamil are simply superb on the whole this composition by M.M. Kareem is a must listen and noteworthy number in the album.

Mujhe Mein Tu

Singer:keerthi Sagathia & M.M. Kareem

Lyrics: Irshad Kamil

Next in the album is Mujh Mein Tu another romantic track in two versions. Keerthi Sagathia has rendered the sad version of the solo number. A soft number and wonderful lyrics by Irshad Kamil again. The second version has been sung by the superstar Akshay Kumar. Guitar strums have accompanied the entire number. Askahy certainly comes as a surprise with this version of the song. His pitch and tone throughout the entire track is simply perfect. Neeraj Pandey has done great justice in the picturisation of this number

Dharpakad

Singers: Bappi Lahiri

Lyrics: Irshad Kamil

Dharpakad is a typical Special Chabbis special. The lyrics narrate the job of Special Chabbis team on their duty. Bappi Lahiri has given it commanding touch with his rendition. The song is accompanied by a lot of drum beats and violin sounds. An interesting composition by the composers.

On The Whole: The album is a winner all the way. Tujh Sang Lagee, Kaun Mera and Mujh Mein Tu will have repeat values. Composers M.M. Kareem and Himesh Reshammiya have come out with heart rendering music. Lyrics by Irshad Kamil especially will blow you away. Music will prove a plus point when the film releases.
