With 4 losses in a row, Sri Lankan cricket team is in a spot of bother with losing the chance of qualifying to the World Cup 2019 directly. The 96 WC Champions needed two wins in the five-match series to secure a place which is scheduled to take place in England. Sri Lanka will now have to wait for the outcome of West Indies match to see if WI lose at least one of its upcoming matches to be able to clinch that berth.

Teams that do not qualify directly will go through another Qualifier Tournament, which will feature the bottom ranking teams competing against each other for a place in the World Cup. SL has been playing below their usual standards with heavy losses to India in tests and ODI lately.
