Sri Ramadasu
One thing that one can be sure about Sri Ramadasu is that it is not run of the mill. Those who had seen Annamaya from the same team almost a decade back had been waiting for such a film.
But films like this are not made everyday. It takes an inspirational spark to come up with such movies. That spark for Sri Ramadasu has apparently come from the duo of J Bharavi (writer) and M M Keeravani (music director). In fact, it is common knowledge that Keeravani came up with this idea for the film on a trip to the temple. The rest is potential history.
For Nagarjuna and K Raghavendra Rao it may be history once again. After the splendid show of Annamaya, the duo is back for yet another musical biopic. The story is about the famous Ram bhakthi and composer Ramadasu of Bhadrachalam.
The story is etched in local history and Indian heritage. Now they are making a film out of it. It takes extreme guts for a popular star to go for an image change and attempt something like this. But Nagarjuna has made bold to take up the challenge. He has a hirsute look and has prepared himself assiduously for the character.
Interestingly, ANR plays Kabir in the movie. Sneha and Veda, the comely girls, play very vital roles in the movie.
But as everyone knows Keeravani is reckoned to be the `hero' of the film. His compositions (19 of them) are already a huge hit. The audio released uniquely at the Bhadrachalam temple itself has gone down well with the purists.
He has put in painstaking efforts to get the fervor and feel right. He is currently involved in giving the right rerecording. It is a case of love's labor for him. Writer Bharavi has also given his best, and by all reckoning, they are sitting on another winner.
For director Raghavendra Rao, a master of romantic flicks, this is a different kind of challenges. And he has been relishing it.
Konda Krishnam Raju is producing the film. The movie is expected for release around Shivratri time.
