Of late speculations were rife that Soha Ali Khan had given a dance performance at a political party's event. Surprised over this news, the actress through her spokesperson denied about her association with any such cultural event.

"This is to set the record straight that Soha Ali Khan was never approached to perform at the Samajwadi Party's Saifai Mahotsav, so all the news reports that have been stating that she has performed is baseless and untrue."

The Saifai Mahotsav was held at the ancestral village of Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and it had performances by other Bollywood celebrities including Salman Khan, Madhuri Dixit and Alia Bhatt. Protests broke out over the event, since it was held some kilometres away from Muzaffarnagar relief camps where children of helpless riots victims have been dying of the cold.

On his participation, Salman Khan justified through his social networking site thus: "Whenever I visit a place for a performance or a promotion, I see it as an opportunity to help the locals in the areas of healthcare or education." Madhuri too echoes similar views.

Meanwhile Shah Rukh Khan at an event also supported his colleagues by saying that they cannot be blamed since they are performers and its their job.
