‘Vellithirai’ is directed by Viji and it is the remake of a Malayalam movie ‘Udhayananu Tharam’ which featured Mohanlal, Srinivasan and Meena in the lead roles. The Malayalam movie was a super hit in terms of the story, casting, songs and even comedy.

The director of this film Viji, a satirical writer, is said to have done a commendable job in displaying his skills as a master story teller. He has taken just the theme from the Malayalam counterpart and has adapted it to Tamil. He has given a new shape to it altogether in his own style.

Since ‘Vellithirai’ is all about the happenings on and behind the silver screen the director felt it important to invite a few real life film celebrities to the sets of this film. The director first called up Sathyaraj, Madhavan and Karthi to find out their convenience to come to the sets for shoot.

Much to the surprise of the director as well as the entire team of ‘Vellithirai’ all the stars obliged willingly and came to the location with just a phone call from the director. That particular scene is said to have come out very well with a lot of fun.

Great going Viji! This director sure seems to be the one in command!
