With elections around, Vijayakanth, who recently floated his own party to test the waters in the elections, has come out with Sudesi where he strives to reform the Chief Minister of a State. There is enough punch dialogues and the actor utilized the opportunity well to express his political ideology. Though the preachy tone grates, the film has its moments.

Having taken the MGR route in Sudesi, Vijayakanth takes dig at the present political culture in the State and indirectly projects him to be the savior.

Vijayakanth plays his part as a brainy and a brawny youth on a mission to reform the corrupt rulers of the State.

Narayanan (Sayaji Shinde), a politician who has nexus with underworld, becomes the Chief Minister by hatching a conspiracy to kill the existing Chief Minister. His aide Raghavachari (Krishna) shoots the execution in a VCD. Enters Sudesi (Vijayakanth), who chances upon the CD. He blackmails Narayanan using the CD, which clearly shows how he killed the ex-Chief Minister.

Sudesi uses him effectively for the betterment of the society at large. If you accept the plausibility of the scenario and the lengths to which Narayanan and his son to accommodate Sudesi's pleas, then the film certainly passes muster.

Though the movie is aimed at taking to masses the political agenda of Vijayakanth, debutant director Jeppy A Y deserves some credit for making it interesting with mix of commercial elements like item numbers and stunt sequences.

The likes of Ashima, playing his ladylove, and Shayaji Shinde have done a decent job.

Vijayakanth as usual excels in stunt sequences. Srikanth Deva's musical score fails to impress.

Without hurting anybody's sentiments, Vijayakanth seems to have sent a strong political message. Though Sudesi resembles Mudhalvan at few places, Vijayakanth seems to have got his first act right, but still has a lot of work to do with elections around.
