Tamaar Padaar

Tamar Padar,Prithviraj

For the last couple of years, Prithviraj has found success mostly in roles that had him in Khakhi, as upright police officers. All of them had him in serious avatars, but as of now, the actor seems to be looking for a change. His new movie ‘Tamaar Padar’ will feature him as a comic hero who is but a police officer. The actor who is not known for his flair for slapstick comedy is expected to work wonders with his new role in this film which will be on theatres this October.

The curiously titled movie will have Prithviraj as Pouran, an assistant commissioner in Police. He is a flamboyant, but tough cop and a humanist. He is unselfish to the core which often gets into his head. The movie but does not centre around this self-efffacing duty oriented man, but also tracks the life of two circus artistes – Jumper Thambi and Crossbelt Mani. Their lives take a twist when they encounter Pouran the police officer, which in turn changes the lives of all the three. The movie also tells about a father –son relation, where the feather has caringly named his son ’Pauran’(Citizen) and brought him like wise to do the duties of a citizen with most severity .

It was earlier on the news that the film is on the pursuit of absconding Sukumara Kurup, who has been deluding and baffling  the Kerala police for the past couple of decades now. But this forms a small part of the tale. A mass entertainer that discusses grave matters in a bombastically light-hearted way, the title of the film, in comic book lingo, is a term used to denote loud sounds that add humour to the plot. Audiences can look forward to this particular genre of comedy in the upcoming flick Tamaar Padar.  Baburaj, whose career, incidentally, got a fresh lease of life following Salt n’ Pepper plays the role of Thambi, a stunt bike artiste. Meanwhile, Chemban Vinod, who rose to fame with prominent roles in Amen, North 24 Kaatham and, more recently, Saptamasree Taskaraha, stars as Mani.

This is the debut directorial venture of Dileesh Nair , a former 2D animator, who  found the recipe for success in Mollywood with Salt n’ Pepper and went on to pen Da Thadiya and write the dialogues for Idukki Gold. A former assistant to Aashiq Abu,  he’s not overly worried about the audience acceptance for such a genre-bender.

Maniyanpillai Raju, Shrinda Ashab, Ashwin Mathew and Vijay Babu act in the movie which is  produced by M. Renjith, under the banner of Rejaputhra Visual Media. Young cinematographer Alby Anthony is in charge of camera, while Biji Pal does the music.

So watch out for an officer with a difference in ‘Tamar Padar’ which will satisfy your thirst for philosophical and subtle comedies, that works.
