Veteran Tamil film producer Chithra Ramu has passed away in Chennai. He was 73 when he breathed his last due to a prolonged illness..

Ramu is the elder brother of popular director, actor and producer Lakshmanan known as Chithra Lakshmanan. The brothers have produced films like 'Vaazhkkai','Soora Samharam' 'Jallikattu' and 'Chinnappadas' among others.

Chithra Rami is survived by his wife Thangam, two sons Vijay Saravanan and Vijay Karthik and daughter Guhapriya.

The mortal remains has been kept for public homage at the family's Ashok Nagar residence in Chennai. Final rites will start at 5 PM today. .
