An 18-year-old was killed and seven others injured when an amusement ride at the Ohio State Fair lost control. The killed youth was intent on joined the US Marine Corps and officers said his loss has saddened them deeply.

The youth, described as a bright and funny person, was on the ride called Fire Ball, that swings like a pendulum and goes a full circle. The ride was inspected four times in two days and was signed off as being fit to ride. A video shows the parts of the 40-foot structure, an entire row included, breaking while in motion. Both the Governor and Director of the agricultural department of Ohio expressed sadness for this tragedy, but said accidents happened.
