The Film
Some films arouse curiosity by their title itself. 'The Film' is one of them. After all the title of a film cannot be simpler and straight forward than this. You know from the very outset that the film would be something to do with the film making in Bollywood and half the battle for the filmmakers is won there itself as they don't require establishing the basic premise of the movie.
In the season of one debutant director after another making his/her presence felt, 'The Film' is a Nomad films presentation that marks the debut of yet another debutant director - Junaid Memon.
'The Film' is a film about seven distinct individuals who are passionate about making a mark in the world of cinema. They live and breath cinema and though they are distinct personalities and have varied talents to boast of, they have one common dream - to make it BIG. Their approach for achieving the height may be the different but together they understand the finer points about 'how to make a film'.
They struggle, they keep up their chin high, they live on hope, they know that they will make it one day....
But that day seems to be too far ahead. And the wait becomes unbearable. So what do they do?
Do they loose hope and throw away their dreams? Do they try a shortcut to reach where they want to be? Do they drop their idea of being a part of a film and let their talent go waste? Or
Do they decide to do something which not many would dream of? Yes, they set out to do that many may not dare to! Together they all decide to make a FILM themselves. And why not, when together they have assortment of all the talent that is required for making a film. After all....
....they have a writer in the form of Sushmita [Mahima Chaudhary] who leads the bunch of seven. She is ambitious and has high morals. But then are her ambitions too much for her morals to stand their ground. Or is she writing her own script?
...they have a director in the form of Vijay [Khaled Siddiqui] who is currently an assistant director and like all assistant directors wants to direct a film all by himself one day. Though on the exterior he is a fun loving cool guy who lives his life, just like Sushmita, he too is an ambitious person who has big goals set for himself.
...they have an actor in the form of Aditya [Vaibhav Jhalani] who brings a smile on the face of everyone in the group. He loves comedy and excels in mimicry. But behind his comic persona is hidden a belief. A belief that says that he would be BIG one day!
...they have an actress in the form of Ankita [Chaahat Khanna] who is a sweet'n'saccharine girl struggling to find a place for herself in the big world of films. Her idol? Aishwarya Rai! Her desire? To be a great performer on the big screen! Will THE FILM help her achieve what she set out for?
...they have a musician in the form of Raman [Ravi Goasain] who has a great sense of humor. The situation may be extremely serious, but he knows how to make it light hearted. He aims at conducting a grand orchestra on the big stage! Will his music help him achieve this for THE FILM?
...they have a lyricist in the form of Irfan [Vivek Madan] who [unlike most of his colleagues] has a serious personality. His only passion? Writing lyrics that touch the soul and reach out to everyone's heart. He sets out on the path towards success, but does his own soul accompany him till the end?
...they have a singer in the form of Nandini [Ananya Khare] who has a voice that could touch the heart of millions. She is a righteous woman who sees everything in Black and White and believes that everything can be achieved if applied the right means! But is life really Black and White?
