Thoofan

Thursday, January 1, 1970 • Telugu Comments

Let's start with the Bollywood version. The film 'Zanjeer revisited' or 'Zanjeer V 2.0' has all it's expectations coz of the fact that the 1973 original was a success in more ways than one. It gave the industry an 'Angry Young Man' who later went on to become the Megastar of Indian cinema. No wonder, it's popularly said in Bollywood 'He hasn't got his Zanjeer yet'. So, the expectations of a remake of such iconic film are while on one hand a great asset, on the other they are a huge liability too.

But the same expectations of Zanjeer are helping Charan make headway into the Bollywood. While all his predecessors including Dad Chiru, Venkatesh, nag, Kamal Hassan etc have remade south hits, his decision (Courageous though) to remake Zanjeer is creating a great pad for him. Show them some mettle, the rest would be taken care of by the fans. But one false move Ram, you will be crushed without mercy. The music album has failed to make an impact with almost all the reviews giving a thumbs down. However, the 1973 original itself was not popular for the sound tracks, of course, a huge exception of 'Yaari Hai Eemaan.'

As per the cast and crew, story and making of the film, there are no doubts from anyone. The trailer has already created quite a buzz among the social media circles and is a huge viral hit. Ram Charan looks stunningly handsome and Priyanka Chopra sexy and luring. Both the Hindi and Telugu ensembles have names like Sanjay Dutt/Sri Hari, Prakash Raj, Mahi Gill etc.

The Telugu 'Toofan' sound tracks haven't created any ripples either. While the reviews have been average to good, audience haven't been overtly excited of the songs, as they usually are. Understandable, since everyone knows that this is a serious action film and audio won't be playing great importance. Mega fans are quite excited of the fact that a film is finally being released.

That brings us to the Million Dollar question. Will 'Toofan' be released at all on the 6th September as announced. With the state burning with the bifurcation flames, with both the sides openly targeting the big hero films, will there be any room for mercy for the Telugu version 'Toofan' from the activists, is anybody's guess.
