Of late, Vijay’s ‘Thuppaki’ is garnering much attention, courtesy the poster image where he carries Kajal Agarwal. It reminds one a similar poster of Richar Gere’s English film. Now this has put a question in fans’ mind whether ‘Thuppaki’ is based on that Hollywood film.

Clarifying on this, director AR Murugadoss said that it is not actually the case. Justifying about it in an interview, he said that ‘Thuppaki’ doesn’t have an army backdrop like Gere’s film; instead it is set in Mumbai. Besides that particular scene, everything in ‘Thuppaki’ is original, confirms Murugadoss.

Talking about Vijay’s role in the film, Murugadoss further went saying that the actor features as a character who will be loved by all. He is quite spirited and energetic.

According to the filmmaker, it’s been quite long to see such an energetic and handsome hero in our Tamil cinema. So unlike normal heroes, Murugados added, here in ‘Thuppaki’ Vijay is playing it very differently, by acting very bubbly, enthusiastic and excited. “Usually female leads in my films will play such energetic characters, but in this movie, Vijay has taken upon himself to play a lively and hyper character. I feel that this will be Vijay’s best role so far in his career,” remarked the director.
