'Toofan', the potboiler starring Ram Charan Tej has released amidst security arrangements across the state of Andhra Pradesh. However, the film is facing huge ire from both the Telangana and Samaikyandhra movements thanks to the actor's father, actor turned politician and central minister Chiranjeevi's ambiguity in taking a stance in the state bifurcation.

While Telangana declared him an outsider long ago and tried to vent their anger against his son and brother's films in the region, the situation today is even worse for the Mega star who was revered and doted by the Seemandhra people, got a stick from them as well. The Samaikyandhra activists, demanding the minister's resignation immediately to his chair in support of the movement, came in heavily to the theaters screening 'Toofan' and were successful in stopping fans go inside theaters.

Many places across the state including Vizag, Tirupathi, Warangal, Kurnool and many small and big centers, activists shouted slogans against the minister and staged dharnas at the theaters. Many theaters have stalled screening the film on their own succumbing to the pressure by the activists. Going by the sheer strength and resolve, it doesn't seem any good for the film in the near future unless Chiranjeevi works out a miracle out of thin air.
