Arjun Kapoor [Ishaqzaade]

With 'Ishaqzaade', Arjun Kapoor made a very good first impression in the same manner as Ranveer Singh had in 'Band Baaja Baaraat'. To carry off a rugged look with various shades to his character in the very first film is as risky as it gets. Still, Arjun got it correct right through the film's length, hence ensuring a promising outing ahead in Bollywood. In fact the way he is finding favour amongst the bigwigs of the industry like Aditya Chopra, Karan Johar and Sajid Nadiadwala to name a few, he is there to stay.

Ayushmann Khurrana [Vicky Donor]

With 'Vicky Donor', Ayushmann makes a very worthy debut and came across as just the kind of character that Shoojit Sircar would have wanted to project on screen. Yet again it's the sheer natural manner in which Ayushmann approached the character which made his part of Vicky so endearing. Yes, his character did get a bit repetitive in the beginning portions of the film when it just doesn't give in to Annu Kapoor's demands. However as an actor fun was always round the corner whenever he got into the business.

Varun Dhawan [Student of the Year]

Hats off to Karan Johar for actually picking and choosing a rank newcomer like Varun Dhawan and then working hard to ensure that he came up with an all around show in all perspectives, be it in performances, look and overall understanding of the cinematic medium. Varun did really well in the space provided to him and it was apparent that he was trained well before coming in front of the camera. He is taking his time before kick-starting his next but then one can be rest assured that the wait would be worth it.

Sidharth Malhotra [Student of the Year]

Who is he? From where has he come? What is his background? What would be his future? Does he indeed have it in him to deliver goods? What did Karan Johar find in this absolute outsider when he decided to make him the lead of his directorial outing? There were dozens of questions that were plaguing Sidharth Malhotra when his name was announced for 'Student of the Year'. The pressure was humungous on him to deliver. However he quashed all speculations and won over audience with his able act and dashing looks.

Pulkit Samrat [Bittoo Boss]

As a film 'Bittoo Boss' just about passed muster but it was an earnest and natural act by first timer Pukit Samrat that saved the day. Quite camera friendly and at times coming across as a good mix between Ranveer Singh and Ranbir Kapoor, Pulkit's body language was just perfect for the role and so was his dialogue delivery. The film may not have been great shakes at the box office but acted as a show reel for him as he went into an emotional roller coaster ride. His next, 'Fukrey', is with none less than Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, something that should set the tone for a good future.
