Expectations

Rajkummar Rao is one such actor who has managed to make its mark in most of his films. His performance in almost every film of his has been great. His latest film 'Trapped' got standing ovation at the film festivals due to which the expectation level has gone sky high among all those who love realistic films.

Story

'Trapped' is a story of Shaurya (Rajkummar Rao), who falls in love with his office colleague Noorie (Geetanjali Thapa). Noorie is set to get married to someone else. Shaurya wants Noorie to be with him, but does not have a decent place to live with her.

Thus, Shaurya decides to rent a good place for both of them. With minimum budget, Shaurya ends up getting a vacant flat in a disputed high rise building. Before he could let Noorie know about the place, Shaurya gets trapped inside that empty flat. All his means of contact with the world starts to fade out and thus begins the fight to survive.

The 'Glitz' Factor

This is indeed the first of its kind in our Hindi cinema. Hindi cinema and on the lines of 'Yaadien'. Despite of these minor similarities the movie has its own merit to credit. The story idea is interesting and inquisitive.

The film starts with a short and sweet romantic note and does not linger around to get to its main plot. The moment Rajkummar Rao is trapped inside the empty flat, the movie sets on a nail-biting ride. The back to back unfortunate events adds as a good twist in the screenplay.

Most of the survival scenes are well written with a good amount of curiosity factor attached to it. The background music is one of the key ingredients in the film.

Director Vikramadita Motwane dares to narrate an out of the box type of film. He highly succeeds in the initial parts of the film along with extracting one of the finest performance from his lead actor. The movie will be remembered among the unique type of films from our country and had all the potential to become a path-breaking type of film.

Rajkummar Rao ends up delivering one of his finest performances.

The 'Non-Glitz' Factor

The movie tends to become repetitive after a while. There are many unwanted scenes which fail to get justified. The movie tries to move on a jet speed mode due to which the connectivity fails to get established.

The frustration at several times is not up to the mark. Also, the finale tends to sum it up in a subtle manner and leaves you on an underwhelming note.

The problem with 'Trapped' is that the movie has a one liner story and runs mainly on its screenplay, which starts to wobble after a time and loses its connect as it progresses towards the finale. The culmination part is highly missing.

Geetanjali Thapa looks pretty, but has been highly underutilized. Masses will prefer to stay away from this film as it's too dark and hard for them to digest.

'Trapped' is like getting strangled in an urban jungle with fine performance and a unique theme catering to good cinema lovers.
