Kollywood heroes of present generation are more daring than their predecessors. They look to experiment more and are craving to cross borders whenever possible. The new fancy noticed among the heroes now is that most of them are making their films trilingual – Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.

Cheeyan Vikram is doing it again after ‘Raavanan’. His next film with Susi Ganesan will be produced in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi simultaneously. Then ‘Yavarum Nalam’ Vikram K. Kumar will be directing Madhavan in a trilingual. These two films will kick off in July. Then in August, Silambarasan will also make his tryst with Bollywood by launching his ‘Vettaimannan’ in three languages.

Though ‘7am Arivu’ starring Suriya and Shruthi Haasan, directed by Murugadoss has dropped its Hindi plans for the moment, we expect the film to speak Hindi at least in a dubbed avatar later. This threesome is already familiar in Bollywood. There is also buzz about Sarath Kumar showing interest in trilingual. He is said to have plans for a film in Tami, Malayalam and Hindi.

If one side of the world is like this, the other side consisting of mass heroes like Vijay and Ajith is very different. These two super stars are content with only Tamil as they have a solid fan base here which throws up no challenge to look beyond Kollywood.
