The national award winning actress Umasri of ‘Gulabi Talkies’ a film directed by Dr Girish Kasaravalli has set aside major time for politics. A former MLC of Congress-I party the renowned actress of over 300 Kannada films is gearing up for next elections to the Assembly in the Karnataka state by doing frequent visits to her constituency and looking after the needs of her people.

Umasri returned from Udaipur celebrating Deepavali in her doctor daughter residence was seen with viral fever and she showed many medicines she is taking. Umasri had come to take part in the television serial ‘Amma Ninagaagi’ in which she plays the key role of a mother.

The top actress on state, cinema in over three and half decades found it difficult to jell to the television atmosphere of the present generation.

On the affection of director Srinivas Sanklapura the prominent cinema actress and politician Umasri agreed to set aside 10 days for television. Five days I am free for films and 15 days I will be at my constituency Theredala meeting the needs of the people she said.
