Fable, fantasy and reality are all mixed gloriously to give us Utopia. Donkeys and crows talk, the place is fictional and the incidents are real. There is this perfect place where everything happens perfectly, the way you dream it to be. But in the midst is a judicious mix of this perfectness with the idiosyncrasies of the lead character, CP Swathanthran that brings out the movie's contrast.

Time and again, the narrative takes a dig at the contemporary political and social scenario of Kerala. CP Swathnthran played by Mammootty is at the crux of the movie as he, with his innocent act, reveals some insightful thoughts.

Director Kamal has experimented with 'Utopiayile Rajavu' as he moves away from the kind of movies he usually does. There is an ample dose of humour in the movie. The Marimayam team in full has made their appearance, The satirical humour doe shit all the right spots, though there are occasional farces which fall flat.

The music is spot on. Especially the title song, which in itself is humourous. Jewel Mary as a social activist is commanding and her simple looks in it proves realistic. She has matched upto the demands that Mammootty as an actor has given out.

The trajectory of the movie, when taken in context does have its ups and downs. There is a time when we feel Kamal is loosing his grip on the characters, but the ending brings back the punch in the narrative. Scriptwriter PS Rafeeq, who had the baggage of expectations riding o him after 'Amen' has delivered big time with 'Utopiayile Rajavu'. The movie sure is a family entertainer, which can provide a few laughs and a few thoughts. Rating -  3/5
