Vaadu Veedu

Friday, June 17, 2011 • Telugu Comments

Award winning film maker Bala is back with yet another film. Far from his earlier tragedy dramas, his upcoming flick 'Vaadu-Veedu' is a comedy action entertainer. Sources say after his last movie 'Naan Kadavul' which released in Telugu as 'Nene Devudni', a lot of people suggested to him that he should consider making a comedy film. Following their suggestions, Bala is trying out comic film with Vishal and Arya in the lead roles.

Apparently, Vishal and Arya play the roles of siblings in this movie. Telugu actress Madhushalini and Chennai based model Janani play female leads. The trailer of the movie is out and Vishal is seen as a mass street dweller with a squint eye. Since Arya calls him 'Akka', in this movie, people pressumed that Vishal plays the charecter of a transgender which he denies.

Vishal says acting in this film was one of the biggest risks he took in his life.

"I had to sport a squint eye all through this movie. I had a massive headache everytime I put my eyes like that. But Vishal sir insisted that I have a squint eye.I went to the doctor and got it done. This was one of the biggest ever risks I took. I decided to go ahead and do it considering this to be my last ever film" he claims.

Tamil superstar Suriya and actress Reema Sen will also be seen playing special roles. Bala who takes years to make a single movie, decided to finish this off in eight months time. The plot of the movie is based in a village background. The trailers suggest a mass masala action drama that has always been the case with Tamil to Telugu dubbed movies.

The track Dia Dia Dole sung by Suchitra is racy with fast beats and is sure to create a sensation if marketed well. The audio of this flick composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja was released in Hyderabad last week. Arthur Wilson handled cinematography for the movie. While in Tamil, AGS Entertainment is releasing the movie, in Telugu, Vishal's brother Vikram Krishna is distributing the film.

While most Telugu audience prefer to watch cinema for 'entertainment' than tragedy and reality, Bala is still respected as one of the sensible film makers of our times. However, it is interesting to see how our audience will respond to this movie considering the fact that it is not a tragic story. Offlate Bala's films have been winning national awards and critical acclaim but they haven't been box office superhits. Since the director is changing his style and venturing into comic cinema we hope he wins box office acclaim also this time.
