The success of `Thambi' has made the entire film fraternity sit up and watch director Seeman. His next venture `Vaazthugal', which is released on Pongal, promises an engrossing story revolving around a joint family and the family bondage.

The storyline goes like this: love blossoms between Bhavana, studying in Kovai Agricultural Collage and Madhavan, a software engineer. Bhavana is a girl belonging to a big joint family.

Though the love between these two has the potential to be made as an engaging story, Seeman, a director with a strong social commitment hasn't confine within the boundaries of love. He has placed the love in the backdrop of a joint family and discusses the issues of family values and bondage.

Going by the Seeman's speech in 'Vaazhthugal' audio launch function, he has tried to drive home a point that could be an eye-opener to the youngsters. He has conveyed a message regarding the way elders are treated in today's world overwhelmed by consumerism. He has come down heavily on those who send their aged parents to old age homes.

The movie tries to focus the issues lying beneath such homes and appeals the younger generation to look after the elders with care and affection.

Seeman has roped in a few celebrities to make a guest appearance in the film, Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, Rajya Sabha MP, has made a brief appearance in a scene while Panrutti MLA plays a small role. He has also made Na. Muthusamy, the founder of Koothu-P-Pattarai and Trotsky Marudu, a famous artist play important roles in the movie.

Seeman's brief to music director Yuvan Shankar Raja was simple: "I want calm and pleasant tunes. The lyrics must be understandable". Yuvan has done just that. Na. Muthukumar has responded well by penning some beautiful lines. The unit has also used a poem penned by `Paventhar' Bharathidasan.

Seeman's penchant for Tamil has acquired a new dimension in the film. There is no English through out the film save a couple of words "Good Morning". Even the making of the film reflected his passion for the language. The standard Words like camera, start, action, cut, make up and pack up have given way to pure Tamil equivalents. Even Bhavana, for whom Tamil is not her mother tongue, responded positively. The enthusiastic actor successfully managed to cope up with the environment.

The shooting has been conducted extensively in Chennai, Kovai, Neykkaarapatti, Kerala, and a couple of districts in Sri Lanka (Candi and Nuverelia).

T. Siva has produced the movie under the banner of Amma Creations. The company has produced films like `Theyva Vaakku', `Aravindan', `Chinna Mapley', `Nandavana Theru', and `Raasayyah'. Pyramid Saimira has rendered support to produce this film.

The movie is ready to become a Pongal Bonanza.
