Vadivelu on Tuesday issued a legal notice to his former friend and close associate Singamuthu seeking Rs 25 crore as ‘damages’ for making ‘wild allegations’ against him in an interview to a Tamil biweekly recently.

Alleging that the interview was given with a motive to bring disrepute to him, Vadivelu, in his notice, sought a reply from Singamuthu within seven days. “Besides, Singamuthu should give Rs 25 crore as compensation to the damage caused to my reputation,” he aid.

In the meantime, Singamuthu has also sent a legal notice to Vadivelu seeking Rs 25.50 crore as damages. “Vadivelu’s allegations that I had forged him while buying property are totally false. This has caused me mental agony and he should pay me Rs 25.50 crore as compensation” he said.

It is to be noted that Vadivelu personally lodged a complaint with Chennai Police Commissioner T Rajendran seeking action against Singamuthu and others who had allegedly cheated him in connection with the purchase of land.

Singamuthu, who sought an anticipatory bail fearing arrest in the case, recently gave an interview to a Tamil magazine, apparently as a riposte to his former friend’s allegations.
