Police have beefed up security to Vadivelu and his house in Chennai, following the threat of a bomb attack on him. Also, a person has been arrested in connection with issuing the threat to the ruling DMK’s star campaigner.

Vadivelu’s manager on Sunday lodged a complaint with the Director General of Police and Chennai city Police Commissioner claiming that he had received calls threatening the actor.

In his complaint, the comedian’s manager Muthiah has alleged that the call, which was received at 10.20 pm on Saturday, warned the actor of dire consequences if he did not restrict his speeches in the on-going campaign.

The caller also said petrol bombs would be hurled at the houses and office of the actor.

Following the complaint, police have provided enough security to Vadivelu during his campaigning.

Meanwhile, Vadivelu called on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president M Karunanidhi at Chidambaram during campaigning on Sunday and sought his blessings.

Speaking to reporters later, the actor said that he would not be cowed down by such threats and would continue to campaign for the DMK and its allies.
