He was not known as the Valibar Kavigniar (Youthful poet) for no reason as his lyrics had such contemporariness to them that he swayed his listeners equally in the MGR as well as the Sivakarthikeyan era. In 1965 He gave MGR fans the hint of what would happen if their idol comes to power in “Naan Aanaiyittal adhu nadanthu vittal” (When the time comes for me to pass the order the poor will never suffer). Five decades later when Tamil Nadu was facing regular powercuts he wrote for Sivakarthikeyan-Anirudh a love song that goes “Min Vettu naalil ingey minsaram pola vanthaye vaa vaa yen velucha poovey vaa.”(On a day of power cut you came like the electric power...you flower of light).

Vali had an uncanny command over the Tamil language and even his ordinary speeches were made interesting with his often humor coated wordplays. Like his icon Kannadasan the uniqueness of his work is that he managed to convey the greatest philosophies in the simplest of words. One among his 15000 songs is Kann Pona Pokkiley Kaal pogalama” in which these lines stand good for him as much as it stood for the man who appeared on screen, Irunthaalum marainthaalum paer solla vendum...ivar pola yaarendru oor solla vendum” (Whether one is alive or dead his name should be worthy and the people should always say that you are incomparable).
