The director of ‘Angadi Theru’ Vasanthabalan was felicitated by progressive movement groups for realistically filming the life of the marginalised work force exploited by feudal management in Chennai retail malls.

Tamil Nadu Progressive writers Artistes Association and the CITU were the organisations that took the initiative encourage Vasanthabalan and good cinema.

Directors Sasi, Chimbu Devan, Radha Mohan, Balaji Sakthivel and Suhasini were there to recognise the serious and sincere efforts of Vasanthabalan to alter the course of Tamil cinema for the better.
