Thala Ajith's 2015 super hit 'Yennai Arindhaal' has been dubbed in Kannada as 'Sathyadev IPS' and has been scheduled to hit the screens today (March3, 2017). However the film's release has now become a big question mark as some groups have started protesting against releasing dubbed films in the state.

Films dubbed from Tamil to Kannada were unofficially banned in Karnataka state over the past 20 years. Now 'Sathyadev IPS' will be the first Tamil dubbed to Kannada film to break the ban and release in Karnataka after decades. .

However this film has also started facing the opposition of the Kannadiga fundamentalist factions. Vattal Nagaraj has announced a statewide protest against dubbing films. He has also threatened to torch the theaters screening 'Sathyadev IPS' against the ban.

Kannada actor Jakkesh also expressed the same sentiment and said he will not hesitate to attack the theaters and face police action if need be.

Popular Kannada actors Sadhu Kokila, Sharan, Akul Balaji, Anirudh, Prajwal Devara and a few others have requested fans to not encourage films dubbed from other languages as they see it as a threat for the job opportunities for the locals.
