Action heroine of Kannada cinema Malashri is a winner in powerful roles performing stunts without dupes. This is a known factor from last one decade. This film `Veera' shot abroad looks grand but the substance is missing. For the yesteryears actress turned action heroine the story is also of yesteryears. It seems the film is made only for sake of stunts. The same old `Brother and Sister' tale is as old as `Kabbaddi' game! The prominent Indian game that is used in the film that showcase the power of Malashri in younger days (played by her daughter Kumari Ananya) later moves to foreign locations for tracing the counterfeit notes operators. How the revenge saga ends and `Veera' the cop of Karnataka Police save the state from the hands of corrupt home minister Chunchanagatti (CR Simha) forms the climax of the film. `Veera' was highly expected film in the career of Malashri that had taken two years. Except stunts and the fake currency note issue that is becoming part and parcel of social life there is no concrete story and everything is easily predictable. As a matter of fact Malashri previous films although missing logic had the substance when compared to `Veera'. Of course there is struggle and technique used in this film is at the driver seat. Director Ayyappa P Sharma has not taken care of so many glaring lapses. To quote one example - look at Rahul Dev younger day's selection of a boy. There is no resemblance like how we find in Kumari Ananya and Malashri. Director Sharma firstly accepting for an ordinary tale and extraordinary stunts shows his temperament. The blasting of cars, boat chase and one against dozen fighting, array of bullets missing the heroine - all these are told umpteen number of times on silver screen. The issue of one thousand crores currency notes for the Home Minister to use it in election and fake notes making machines coming from foreign country is the one issue and secondly the revenge of sister on her brother killers the oldest theme tucked in this `Veera'. Malashri in several get up is convincing. As Malini Iyer she looks the typical traditional lady. In the get up of cop in disguise she has taken lot of risk. It is a routine role for Komal Kumar and CR Simha. Kumar Ananya daughter of Malashri and Ramu (producer of the film) is impressive. Ashish Vidyarthi getting a positive role in this film is quite OK. The `woods' from Bollywood `Rahul Dev and Mukul Dev' are not impressive. Stunts are mind blowing indeed. Ravi Verma and Palaniraj have taken highest risks. Hamsalekha falls flat in giving a good tunes and background deserved to be better. Rajesh Khatta has given lovely shots and his aerial shots are fabulous. 'Veera' is a feast for only action lovers.
