Director Venkat Prabhu`s cult classic Chennai 600028` was the pioneer for new age cinema in Tamil which has evolved to what it is today. The film has found its place as one among the top 5 cricketing moments on film by UK`s prestigious Guardian magazine and website. The other films mentioned are The Lady Vanishes`, Lagaan`, Hope and Glory` and The Shaun of the Dead`.

VP meanwhile is giving finishing touches to the Chennai 600028 2` which has all the original stars like Siva, Jai, Premgi Amaran, Nithin Sathya and Vijayalakshmi amongst others returning with musical score by Yuvan Shankar Raja.
