Veteran Actress Sukumari Passes Away

The first cousin of the famous Travencore sisters, wife of late director Bhimsingh, veteran actress Sukumari passed away today in a private hospital; she was 73 and was recuperating from burn injuries. Born in Nagercoil, Travencore, Sukumari entered stardom when she was only 10 years old. She is noted for her unmatched performance across many languages - Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi. She has acted in more than 2500 movies in all, for which she won the Padma Shri, for her contributions towards art. She won the National Film Award for the Best Supporting Actress in 'Namma Gramam' (2010). Her sad demise is owed to a heart attack that she suffered.
