Released recently, the trailer of Vidya Balan starrer ‘Bobby Jasoos’ struck chord instantly with the audience; given the fact, it gives a fresh outlook of a lady detective on big screen. The trailer has received immense appreciation from all the quarters. Now when it comes to the detective profession, what is better way to remember a similar classic character, who has been superhit in those days... Remember the good old Karamchand - the popular Indian detective of TV series. With Pankaj Kapur playing the lead, it was one of India’s first and biggest detective series.

So recently, when Supriya Pathak, who is also a part of the film, invited Vidya and producer Dia Mirza for Kapur’s birthday party, Vidya quickly decided to go and meet him. Even though Vidya was under the weather, she did not miss it. Both Vidya and Dia went for the party and briefly interacted with Pankaj Kapur.

Talking about the meeting, the bubbly Vidya said, "My earliest memory of a detective is Karamchand. And he was probably the only one on the horizon until one got exposed to detective films later. We've even paid homage to Karamchand and Kitty in one of the dialogues in Bobby Jasoos. During the workshop, in one of the improvisations, I remember acting like Karamchand and we even laughed about the fact that Karamchand ki biwi meri ma (Supriya Pathak) bani hai. When I met Pankaj Kapur I wanted to say Bobby Karamchand ki chhati aulad hai but I did not. Haha!"

‘Bobby Jasoos’ is set in Hyderabad and shows her speaking Hyderabadi language with penchant.
