A recent photograph of director Atlee posing with an elderly couple has been trending in social media. The photo was apparently taken from the shooting spot of 'Mersal', the young filmmaker's second film Thalapathy Vijay after the blockbuster 'Theri'.

There is a poster in the backdrop of the photo and that poster features Vijay and Motta Rajendran along with the Indian National flag and a flag of a fictional political party. This lead to news reports that Vijay plays a politician in the film.

When we delved deep into the background of this poster captured inadvertently in the photo of Atlee, we learnt from a reliable source that Vijay contests in the Panchayat board elections in the film and that is the significance of that poster from the shooting spot. More interesting fact is that Vijay contests in the elections under the symbol of Jallikattu bull.

As evidenced in the first look poster of 'Mersal', the film supposedly has a strong connection with Jallikattu, the traditional bull taming sport of Tamil people which was rejuvenated by the historical protest of Tamil youngsters and common people.

'Mersal' is the landmark 100th film of Thenandal Studios banner and Vijay apparently lays triple roles in the film with Nithya Menen, Kajal Aggarwal and Samantha playing the female leads.
