Fans of Vijay have lodged a complaint with the Chennai city Police Commissioner T Rajendran seeking action against police officers who had denied them permission to erect a cutout of the actor in a cinema hall at Ashok Nagar.

In his complaint on Tuesday, president of Vijay Fans Association, Jayaseelan, had alleged that they were denied permission to erect the cutout where their favourite actor’s recent release ‘Kavalan’ is being screened.

Accompanied by office bearers of the fans association, he also alleged that some police men also threatened the fans. So, he said, the Commissioner should take action against the police officers.

Alleging that the same theatre complex had huge posters and cutouts of other actors, Jayaseelan said, “We had already fixed scaffolds and when we went to fix the banner, the police engaged some persons and removed the scaffolds. The police also didn’t give a proper reply.”

On Monday, more than 100 fans of Vijay gathered in front of a cinema hall at Chromepet in Chennai and raised slogans against those behind the damage to the posters of their matinee idol’s ‘Kavalan’.
