A popular actor calling on the Chief Minister is not rare in Tamil Nadu.

But when a top actor did meet J Jayalalithaa at the Secretariat yesterday, indeed many were surprised.

For it was Vijay, the number one among the young crop of actors in Tamil. Vijay has also been keeping away from politics studiously.

Vijay called on Chief Minister along with his father S A Chandrasekhar.

Denying any politics behind the meeting, the actor, however, described the meeting as a mere courtesy call.

It is also said that the actor had given a sum to Chief Minister's relief Fund during the meeting.
